Ferias and Faith of our Fathers

Ferias in Terrassa are not bulls running through the street, but rather ramblas filled with an array of vendors, gathering from every corner of Catalonia to share their regional foods and wares. The whole experience is highlighted by the circus coming to town! People wear traditional “Ferias days” attire, re-enacting the history so deeply rooted here. It’s a reminder to ask myself: What do I have to help me remember about the wonderful history that I have in my life. What elements in our own lives serve as our 'Ferias,' helping us remember the wonderful personal histories we carry? What traditions, stories, or items bring to mind your mother, your grandmother, your father?"

Faith of my “fathers”

I, like Nephi, was born of goodly parents who loved the Lord and taught me of His ways. I stand on the shoulders of great ancestors. I am grateful and hopeful to be able to go forward in this life serving the Lord with Faith and Love as I have been taught. I have amazing examples in my family tree of parents, grandparents, and great grandparents living the gospel and following our Savior Jesus Christ on their path in this life.

We cherish many family traditions that have been passed down, at the same time we evolve some of them or create our own new ones over the years. We strive to make Jesus Christ is at the Center of our life as they did. What traditions do you want to pass down? Some traditions, like playing Monopoly on Christmas Eve that turns into tears and frustration, need to be left behind. Then adding traditions, as our prophet has asked us to make Easter more meaningful. Traditions like the Seder meal and a reenactment script that our daughter put together.

All families are not perfect. We come from all walks of life, but our Heavenly Father values and cherish each one of us as His own.

“Happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. Successful marriages and families are established and maintained on principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities. The Family Proclamation

“Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.” (Ex. 20:12.)
