Spain Madrid Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
On our way to the Young Single Adult conference in Segovia, Spain, we stopped in Madrid. One of the very best things in Madrid is the temple. We had longed to go to the House of the Lord since we started our mission; it had been four months.
President Nelson says, “The plan laid out in the Grand Council in Heaven included the sobering realization that we would all be cut off from God’s presence.” Is it no wonder we long to know Him and be close to Him. Serving and learning in the temple helps me feel a little less distant from Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I feel an added, quick, and strong measure of the truths of the gospel and the love Heavenly Father has for all of His children.
I would just like to say here that the Celestial room in the temple is the most stunning one I have seen. I was so impressed with the ceiling, the chandelier, the carpet, the detail of the furniture including beads and. tassles. Here is the official published gallery of the inside of the temple. for me you just can’t really see the detail in the picture. if you ever get to Spain, bring your temple reccomend. you will want to go inside, not only to be nearer to God, but in addition to see the finishings that they have consecrated to the Lord.
Royal Castle of Madrid and yours truly.
It was constructed and decorated by King Philip V from 1738 to 1759, built atop the site of the old Alcázar of Madrid. It is still the official residence of the King of Spain, Felipe VI.
One of the things I liked most about this palace were the ceilings and the finishing details. As you will see in the pictures below, some of the ceilings are beautiful, much like the castle in Segovia. After visiting both of these castles and returning to the Madrid temple, we realized that the stunning temple ceiling was part of the historical heritage you see throughout Spain. Even the tassels on the furniture in the palace were very similar to those in the celestial room. Go see both the palace and the temple!
One of the rooms in the castle is called the Porcelain Room. Its walls are made with 3D porcelain. It is also pictured below, but the photos do not do it justice.
It was great to see the castle; it's one of my favorites. The gardens were closed for renovation when we were there. Hopefully, we can return in the spring when they are open.
