Build a Fortress

Alcázar of Segovia

Elder Rasband, “ Build a fortress of Spirituality and Protection.”.

“Our homes are fortresses against the evils of the world. But remember, our homes are only as powerful as the spiritual strength of each one of us within the walls.”

Elder Rasband gave a talk, “Build a fortress of Spirituality and Protection”, 2019. He says, “People have built fortresses throughout history to keep the enemy outside. Often those fortresses included a guard tower where watchmen—like prophets—warned of menacing forces and coming attacks.” Structures like this castle in Segovia are built to keep the people inside and the surrounding community safe.

Moroni, in the Book of Mormon, built many fortresses to protect the people from the enemy on the outside, and they built faith in the Lord Jesus Christ on the inside, “that they might live unto the Lord their God, and that they might maintain that which was called by their enemies the cause of Christians.” (alma 48:10).

We know and have been told by our prophets that we are at war now. We see it in the lives of our Young Adults here in Spain. So many things attack them from the world. Here in Spain some of the challenges to stay on the covenant path are; not being legal in the country, being an immigrant, a desire for wealth, unemployment, single family homes (grew up without a father), coming to Spain one at a time as a family, a misunderstanding what a family is, living in a world where marriage is not needed, influence of media (many of the same world-wide challenges)

Our challenge now is to build our fortress to keep up safe. “As the Lord’s living prophet, seer, and revelator in this day, the watchman on the tower of our fortress, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he sees the advances of the enemy.” (Elder Rasband) “In our homes we come unto Christ by learning to follow His commandments, by studying the scriptures and praying together, and by helping one another stay on the covenant path.us. All this within the fortress of our own homes. But remember, our homes are only as powerful as the spiritual strength of each one of us within the walls.”
