Miracles
President Shirley asked me to describe the miracles that had taken place for us to go on this mission. I didn’t do a great job describing them at the time. I have thought more about it and would like to express gratitude for many of them and recognize the hand of the Lord in our life.
(note: most of the time these miracles were happening, we were walking through life sort of in a daze, amazed at what was happening and not even totally understanding how these things were coming to pass. 100% it was only because of our Savior). We were given clear direction to go on a mission in a time of uncertainty. Our Children and grandchildren are supportive. We were able to talk with President Heckmann in Barcelona. The paper work including all doctor visits and signatures were completed in record time.!
*Savanah Jo’s life was spared. The visa application took one day to complete. Our mission application was finished and we were able to meet with Bishop Layton and President Shirley. Dave and President Heckmann were inspired and continually encouraged the visa department to complete and submit our visa application.
*Brooke’s appendicitis had a successful surgery. We rented our house to an amazing couple and feel so grateful. *Mynette had an urgent c-section, delivering our first Evans boy to carry on the family name. Mom and baby thriving! Against all odds, our visas materialized and flew directly to SLC to talk to the Spanish consulet.
*We were able to visit with my mom and all 7 of my siblings and spouses in Pleasanton. Laurel and her family made it to Palm Desert just in time to take us to the airport and we arrived and walked straight onto our flight. We earned many frequent flyer points in the last 5 months and are always able to book and make our flights - sometimes running.
And a million other little tender mercies that really are miracles and blessings from God, our Heavenly Father. We are so grateful and recognize we could not be in this situation to go and serve the Lord In Barcelona without Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ carrying us through to this day.
